About Izzi
Izzi Guzman is a dynamic trombonist, composer, arranger, and educator dedicated to sharing joy, creativity, and authenticity through music. Based in Miami and Orlando, FL, she strives to bring stories to life through her art and foster accessible and creativity-rooted music education for the next generation.
Praised for her innovation and technical prowess, Izzi has performed with renowned groups such as the John Daversa Big Band, Frost Jazz Orchestra, and Florida Wind Symphony Jazz Orchestra. Along the way, she’s collaborated with jazz legends like John Daversa, Jazzmeia Horn, Brian Lynch, Etienne Charles, and Marcus Strickland, cementing her place in the jazz world. She was a featured soloist at the 2025 South Beach Jazz Festival, where she was a 2024 scholarship recipient. In 2024, Izzi was a part of the Kenny Wheeler Legacy Project with the Frost Jazz Orchestra and Royal Academy of Music Jazz Orchestra, recording “Some Days Are Better: The Lost Scores” at Abbey Road Studios with John Daversa, Nick Smart, Shelly Berg, Evan Parker and Norma Winstone. Her versatility as a performer is matched by her ability to bring her own voice to each musical setting, whether it’s an intimate jazz combo or a large ensemble performance.
Her compositions and arrangements weave together personal stories and a love for diverse genres, creating a distinctive, multi-dimensional sound. Her works have been performed across the United States, and one of her compositions, 99 Percent, is published on Brava Jazz Publishing. Izzi’s composition A Warm Welcome can be heard in “Historic Landmarks of Miami: Live at Gusman Concert Hall 2024,” where Izzi paid tribute to Miami’s vibrant culture with a multi-genre musical piece that exemplifies her unique approach to storytelling through music.
Izzi is a full-tuition scholarship recipient and graduated Summa Cum Laude from both Berklee College of Music (B.M. in Professional Music) and the University of Miami (B.M. in Music Education). She is currently completing an M.M. in Jazz Pedagogy at the University of Miami, where she also contributes as a student leader and mentor under the guidance of esteemed educators like Dante Luciani and Chuck Bergeron.
Beyond the stage, Izzi manages social media for prominent brands such as the Frost Studio Music & Jazz Department, Miami Jam Sessions, and John Daversa. She also serves as an Outreach Teaching Assistant with the Donna E. Shalala MusicReach Program, bringing her passion for music education to students of diverse backgrounds. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes valuing all music genres and encouraging student-driven learning—a core belief that also inspires her original music. Her second album, Interdimensional, released with a lineup of talented musicians from the Frost School of Music, encapsulates her musical growth and exploration during her time in college, offering a window into her world of creative evolution.
With a passion for both performance and education, Izzi continues to make her mark in the music community, creating works that resonate with listeners on both personal and universal levels. Through every note and every story, she strives to inspire, uplift, and connect people through the power of music.
